Governance

Wildewood Estates is governed by two distinct boards: Belgrade Lakes Colony Association (BLCA) that manages the beach, boating, and recreational areas, and Wildewood Estates Road District (WERD) that maintains our 3.5 miles of private roadways. An annual meeting of the boards and residents is held on the last Saturday in June of each year. The fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th. Invoices are mailed to residents in September for the current fiscal year, with a due date of October 31st

Belgrade Lakes Colony Association (BLCA)

  • Belgrade Lakes Colony Association (BLCA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that:
    • Coordinates day to day operations as well as capital improvements at the front entry (including the mail center), the beach, the boating area, and the recreation area. 
    • Approves new home designs to insure they conform with BLCA by-laws
    • BLCA board members are elected at the annual meeting by the residents. Current board members are:
      • Michelle Stafford, President
      • Lisa Whittemore, Treasurer
      • Leanne Mazey, Clerk
      • Karen Cavanagh, Director
      • Steve Cavanagh, Director
      • Larry Stafford, Director
      • Dan Szatkowski, Director
    • Membership dues are approved by the property owners at the annual meeting. Dues for Fiscal Year 2025 are $85.00 per property owner
    • Homeowners are required to abide by the Restrictions and Limitations (link to enhanced/chatGBT document) and the Bylaws which are approved by our community (Link to document with recent amendment)
    • Membership entitles families and guests to use the common areas with respect for the rules that have been established by the BLCA community, the Town of Rome, and the State of Maine.

Wildewood Estates Road District (WERD)

  • Wildewood Estates Road District (WERD) is a Statutory Road Association created through Maine Private Way Law: Title 23. WERD is responsible for:
    • Maintenance and improvements to the 3.5 miles of private roadways
    • WERD board members are elected at the annual meeting by the residents. Current board members are:
      • Charlie Armentrout, Chairman
      • X, Road Commissioner
      • Larry Stafford, Treasurer
      • Jennifer Kish, Secretary
      • Eldon Abbott, Assessor
      • Irv Felker, Assessor
    • Membership dues are approved by the property owners at the annual meeting. Dues for Fiscal Year 2025 are
      • $525.00 per dwelling + land owner 
      • $120 for one or more lots of land, up to 1% of town valuation 
      • Late fees are $32.00
